Thyroid

What is Thyroid? Everyone might have this disease or might know someone who has this. What can you do to fix to help prevent this? There are two types of thyroid diseases which are Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism. The difference between the two is that hypothyroidism is a condition when the body lacks that thyroid hormone. Symptoms are fatigue, weakness, weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight, coarse, dry hair, dry rough pale skin, hair loss, cold intolerance (can't tolerate the cold like those around you), muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches ,constipation, depression , irritability, memory loss , abnormal menstrual cycles, decreased libido. Hyperthyroidism is the term for overactive tissue within the thyroid gland, resulting in overproduction and thus an excess of circulating free thyroid hormones. Some of the symptoms for this is palpitations, heat intolerance, nervousness, insomnia, breathlessness, increased bowel movements, light or absent menstrual periods, fatigue, fast heart rate, trembling hands, weight loss, muscle weakness, warm moist skin, hair loss, staring gaze. As you can see there is a couple of symptoms that are the same but the rest of the symptoms are different. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. They are fruits that grows from a tree but work in different ways in the matter of vitamins. Hypo is slow production and hyper is fast production.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and are not quite clear what is going on with your body. Seek medical help and ask to have a full blood work up done. This will help you find out some of the things that you think are not normal but are normal because of this disease.
